Denza BYD’s up-market marque has lifted the curtain on the cabin of its biggest SUV yet, the N8L. Pre-sales for the six-seat flagship begin this Thursday, 26 September, with showroom arrivals expected before year-end.
First Look: A First-Class Living Room on Wheels
The N8L’s 2+2+2 layout is geared toward families who want minivan practicality without sacrificing SUV presence. Highlights include:
- Captain’s chairs in row two 14-way power adjustment, fold-away leg rests and individual armrests.
- "Zero-gravity" mode for the front passenger seat (same hardware found in the larger Denza N9).
- Heated third-row seats rare in this segment plus manual sunshades and a rear control screen that operates climate, audio and ambient lighting.
- An integrated refrigerator between the second-row seats keeps drinks chilled on long trips.
Tech-Rich Dash, Hidden Storage
A symmetrical dash houses three digital panels: a 12.3-inch driver display, 17-inch passenger entertainment screen and a 17.3-inch floating centre touchscreen. The stalk-mounted shifter frees up console space for wireless charging, covered cup holders and a deep storage bin.
Exterior: Subtle Muscles, Drone Option
Denza keeps the N8L’s styling in the family with vertical DRL stripes, active grille shutters and flush door handles. Blacked-out B-, C- and D-pillars create the popular floating-roof look, while trapezoid-themed taillights echo the front graphic. Buyers can now spec:
- Two-tone paint
- Semi-enclosed black wheels
- Coloured brake callipers
An optional "Lingyuan" drone kit raises roof height by 70 mm and adds a rooftop landing pad.
Size & Space
| Length | 5 200 mm |
| Width | 1 999 mm |
| Height | 1 820 mm (1 990 mm with drone pack) |
| Wheelbase | 3 075 mm |
Plug-in Power: 2.0 T + Triple Motors
The N8L pairs a 152 kW 2.0-litre turbo with three electric motors (front 200 kW, rear 240 kW each). A 46.99 kWh LFP battery delivers:
- 170 km CLTC pure-electric range (standard model)
- 160 km CLTC for the drone variant
Combined system output is expected to top 600 kW, putting the N8L in the same league as the Li Auto L8 and Aito M8 EREV for straight-line pace.
Price & Rivals
Industry insiders tip a 350 000 – 400 000 yuan launch window (≈ \$49 – \$56 k). That pits the Denza against China’s favourite three-row extended-range SUVs: Li Auto L8, Aito M8 and Great Wall Wey Lanshan.
Official pricing will be released on pre-sale day. Deliveries are slated to start before Chinese New Year 2025.
