This company will convert your 2000 Range Rover to look both old and modern at the same time.

Range Rover 2000 Model
  • Velvet Motorworks will revive the Range Rover L322 through a limited-edition modification program.
  • The modified design blends classic elements with modern interiors and enhanced underpinnings.
  • The first customer deliveries are scheduled for late 2026, featuring a supercharged V8 engine.

The third-generation Range Rover, launched in the early 2000s, continues to earn acclaim for its elegant, understated luxury. Now, nearly 25 years later, a new Estonian company called Velvet Motorworks plans to revive a limited-production version, specifically designed for buyers seeking something more distinctive and refined.

The Range Rover L322 debuted in 2001, followed by updates in 2006 and 2010. It was designed under BMW’s supervision, although Ford had already acquired Land Rover by the time sales began.

Mikkel Koluots, founder of Velvet Motorworks, explained his motivation for selecting this model as the company’s inaugural project: “I was a teenager when the L322 first launched, and I still vividly remember seeing it in person for the first time. I was captivated by its power and elegance, with its boxy design. Now, over twenty years since its first models, these vehicles deserve to be completely disassembled and re-engineered, with a unique touch—not just restoration, but a revival of classic spirit through a modern lens.”

A Fresh Look at Old Cues

This isn’t merely a simple restomod, where a classic car is brought into the modern era using contemporary tech, design, and mechanics. Well, it is, but not entirely. Externally, Velvet Motorworks has adopted a classic approach, incorporating original styling cues into the L322 while updating it as if it were a standalone redesign project. It may sound confusing, but contrary to expectations, the car remains cohesive.

Exterior modifications include custom LED lighting with circular graphic elements, a redesigned front grille with vertical slats, and bumpers inspired by classic SUVs. The overall silhouette is enhanced with larger wheels and a noticeable lift in ride height.

The company has not yet shared images of the “handcrafted” interior, but confirmed it will combine luxurious materials with modern technologies such as Apple CarPlay connectivity and ADAS systems.

Special attention is given to the car’s fundamentals: starting with a comprehensive restoration, followed by enhancements to the chassis and performance. These efforts aim to preserve the traditional driving experience while improving comfort and handling.

All Range Rover models will be equipped with a 4.2-liter supercharged V8 gasoline engine sourced from Jaguar. This engine produces 400 horsepower (298 kW / 406 PS) straight from the factory, with potential for increased output via hardware and software upgrades. Additionally, it will feature an active exhaust system customizable to enhance the driving experience.

On Display and Limited Production

As you may notice, the Velvet Motorworks Range Rover is currently available only as 3D renderings. These were designed by artist Nils Bierma, who previously worked with Koenigsegg and Genesis. The company announced its intention to complete the prototype by mid-2026, with customer deliveries expected to begin by the end of next year.

The modified Range Rover L322 will be produced in limited numbers in Estonia, with each unit built to order. Pricing has not yet been disclosed, but Velvet Motorworks has already begun accepting inquiries from interested buyers.

Great post! Car accessories can get pricey, so I was glad to find a TuxMat Discount Code on Super Shopper Hub. It helped me save while getting quality floor mats for my car — definitely worth checking out!
