2025 Toyota Tundra: 4 Reasons to Adore It, 2 Reasons to Hesitate

2025 Toyota Tundra

The Toyota Tundra stands strong against Detroit's big three truck manufacturers.

It has successfully carved out a place for itself in a highly competitive field which includes the iconic Ford F-150. With the demise of the Nissan Titan, the Tundra is now the sole foreign contender in the full-size truck market facing off against American rivals. The Japanese manufacturer has created a truck that strikes a good balance with considerable power and strength, but the 2025 version may struggle to compete with its American counterparts.

The 2025 Toyota Tundra sees several updates for the new model year. The TRD Sport package has been discontinued, replaced by a new TRD Rally appearance package. Additionally, there are significant equipment updates, including a standard power tailgate for all trims above the SR5. Higher-end models offer more luxury features, and the 1794 Edition features a distinctive tailgate.

Reason to love it #1: Twin-turbo V6 engine

The Toyota Tundra no longer has its V8 engine; instead, it features a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine. This engine is available in two versions, with the first being unique to the entry-level SR trim. No matter which version, the engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and can be equipped with either rear- or part-time four-wheel drive.

The Tundra's twin-turbo V6 engine delivers 358 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque in its base version. Other variants receive an increase in power, reaching a total of 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The more potent option features multiple driving modes that adjust the operation of the powertrain.
